Committee Updates
Sustainable Infrastructure
Chairman Jim Russ, EHRA Engineering
The Sustainable Infrastructure Committee wrapped up 2015 with a solid close. The Committee of 6 – 8 dedicated members met regularly each month this past year with the commitment to further enlighten and educate the members of the WHA about Sustainable Infrastructure and sustainability in general. The Committee worked hard this past year with Lindsey Woodard on refining the Sustainable Infrastructure’s webpage on the WHA’s website as well as focusing in on a more prominent social media presence concerning the Committee’s, and the WHA’s, attention on Sustainable Infrastructure.

On September 16th the Committee hosted a Sustainable Infrastructure Technical Issues Forum where a panel of Dale Rudick with the City of Houston, John Blount with Harris County and Michael Mair with Skanska spoke on the role that Sustainable Infrastructure plays within their respective jurisdictions (city, county and private sectors) and what their thoughts are of the future of Sustainable Infrastructure. The audience helped wrap up the forum with related questions that brought the Forum luncheon event to a successful close.

2016 brings more opportunities for the Committee to continue their great efforts to further advocate Sustainable Infrastructure and to further educated the stakeholders of the West Houston Association with more forum events with guest presenters who will focus in on “real life” examples of how Sustainable Infrastructure is integrated into their projects and share the resulting outcomes.
