Water Resources
Chairman Jack Miller, R.G. Miller Engineers, Inc.
In 2015 the Water Resources Committee hosted a Technical Issues Forum featuring Mitch Walker, founder and President of Masuen Consulting, LLC. Masuen Consulting LLC is a twenty year old outdoor water management and sustainability consulting firm. Walker has thirty years of experience in the urban, golf and agricultural water management worlds. He has a BS in Zoology and a MS in Construction Management. Walker spoke about the role of outdoor water management within the broader arena of water conservation. The presentation discussed how current industry mindsets, practices and values inhibit the demand side from being a co-equal contributor with the supply side in the water conservation story. A two year case study in Houston, Texas was discussed to demonstrate how relatively simple changes in the way we view and manage water can lead to significant reductions in water use and potentially save billions of dollars in the process.

The Water Resources Committee will try to meet from 2pm-4pm on the third or fourth Wednesday of every other month starting in January. Auggie met briefly with Jimmy Schindewolf of the North Houston Regional Water Authority and Mark Evans, Chair of Region H Water Planning Group on November 12. Auggie also spoke with Peter Houghton, chair of the North Fort Bend Water Authority, and Ivan Langford, general manager of the Gulf Coast Water Authority, and former colleagues from the City of Houston. The Water Authority, the City, and Region H are interested in participating in a technical forum on Water Resources and getting more involved in WHA.
