WHA's New Executive Officers |
|
Since David Wolff, Sr. and Walter Mischer, Sr. and others founded the West Houston Association in 1979, WHA has been fortunate to have strong slates of executive officers. This year’s executive committee builds on this tradition of strength.
The 10th Chairman of the West Houston Association, John S. Moody, Sr., is WHA’s immediate-past Vice Chair and the CEO of Parkside Capital. Among other interests, Parkside has three business parks (West Ten, Mason Creek, and Verde Parc) in the I-10 corridor in West Houston. In spite of his role at Parkside, service on the boards of a few publicly traded companies, and service as Chairman of St. John’s School Board, John has already dedicated a remarkable amount of time to serve as WHA Chair.
Ted Nelson, Vice President of Newland Communities, a national residential community developer, was the only former WHA Chairman who had not served as WHA Vice Chair. Ted has agreed to correct this minor deficiency in his resume. Currently, Ted’s work in Houston includes finishing up Newland’s development in Cinco Ranch and starting Elyson, a master planned community on the Grand Parkway. He is working on other projects in the area, across the United States, and places as far away as Japan. The Association has benefited greatly from his tenure on the board.
Kelly Showalter, Shell Oil Company’s Technology Center Site Manager, will serve as WHA’s Treasurer. She takes the place of fellow oil and gas executive, Steve Moskowitz, who retired from ConocoPhillips late last year. Kelly has degrees in chemistry and finance and an MBA, and continues the participation and involvement of one of our major employer members.
Bob Jones, President of Jones Engineering Solutions, returns as WHA’s Secretary. David Hightower, Mark Kilkenny, and Peter Houghton, all former WHA Chairs and very engaged in the community development industry, also return to the executive committee as at large members, along with Doug Goff, Chief Operating Officer of Johnson Development Corp.
We appreciate our executive committee’s leadership, dedication, and service. |
